J and E had their FIRST dentist appointment today!! Can I just give a shout out to Kids First Pediatrics Dentistry. They did an AMAZING job. J absolutely had a blast getting his teeth cleaned and getting x-ray's of his teeth. I am proud to say that J is now a member of their NO CAVITY CLUB!!
The dentist gives them a sticker and a token to get a "prize" after they are all done. The office is also set in a race car theme! It helps the kids feel like they are somewhere fun not scary.
E on the other hand, was a little unhappy during her exam. She does NOT like people in her bubble...so when the dentist came to check out her teeth, she squirmed and wriggled and everything possible to not let him in her mouth. He was able to check it out fast enough! She has pretty good teeth overall, BUT there is one tooth...her top front tooth that has a cavity!
I first noticed it about 6 months ago, because it was a dark brown spot and now it has slowly faded to a dull brown spot. The cavity has caused some nerve damage, so the next step is to do some nerve repair at the Phx's Children's Hospital. Since she is underweight for their office anesthesiologist, she gets to go to the hospital to take care of the tooth. Then they will put a crown over it. Pretty much like a baby root canal but much simpler than an adult's root canal.
I sooo need to take my kids to the dentist. I am nervous what the outcome might be. I am not the best at keeping their teeth brushed. shame on me.
